About Us
Welcome!
Welcome to the First Methodist Church of Lawndale! We are blessed to have your interest as you search for a place to worship. We are a loving Independent Methodist congregation located in the small town of Lawndale, NC. We welcome all visitors and disciple all believers. May God bless you as you learn more about us!
Our Mission:
Our mission is simple: We strive to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. In our service and efforts, we seek to display the commission of the Christian Faith, as given by Christ in Matthew 28:19, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (ESV)." Here, you can learn more about our church family, leadership, and the methods of discipleship we offer to carry out this calling.
Our Ministries:
Here at The First Methodist Church of Lawndale, we recognize the significance of administering Christ's compassion to all creation. Just as Matthew 20:28 states, "Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (ESV)", our church maintains that the highest form of faithfulness is found in imitation of the selfless nature that bought our salvation. According to his love and sacrifice, we devote our service to The Lord through many of the following methods of ministry and outreach:

Soup Kitchen

Community Food Pantry

Fellowship Meals

Samaritan's Purse

Youth Bible Studies

Children's Choir

Homeless Bags

VBS

Adult Outings
Our History:

Our church began in 1891, when Rev. John Moton organized a body of less than two-dozen original members. They met on the second floor of the Cleveland Mills Company Store until a separate “Union Church” was built within a few months. Worship continued in this space for many years until 1942, when a committee was formed to find a suitable space for a permanent sanctuary. On March 13, 1951, a deed was purchased for the present church site. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on April 4, 1952 and on November 30 of the same year, the entire church met in the current sanctuary for the first time. In 1968, the congregation joined the United Methodist Church which endured until our disaffiliation in 2023. Our church now maintains an Independent Methodist status as we progress in our ministries as the body of Christ.
Our pastor:

Greetings!
I want to personally welcome you as Pastor into our church. Here at Lawndale Methodist, I have received the guidance and hospitality of my home church from the days of my youth. Since receiving an early call to ministry at 14 years old, this body of believers have lived out Christ’s command to make disciples in their willingness to ordain one of their own into leadership. Even now, as you join us in worship, I trust that these same Godly men and women will bear you up in love just as they have done for me. Despite all past and present sin and shame, I and my congregation hold an open door to all who seek the presence of The Lord. May God bless you as you receive his word in this place.
Welcome to Lawndale Methodist!
In faith,
